Richard is a consultant trainer for the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) scheme at IMechE Argyll Ruane having joined in 2003 and is also the Chairman of the ICorr Yorkshire Branch.

- Institute of Corrosion (ICorr): Painting Inspector Level 3, Pipeline Coating Inspector Level 2, Fireproofing Inspector Level 2, Insulation Inspector Level 2, Hot Dip Galvanizing Inspector Level 2
- BGAS: Senior Paint Inspection, Site Coatings Inspection, Agricultural Environmental Inspection
