NDT Trainer
Christian is the lead UT tutor at IMechE Argyll Ruane.
Christian joined IMechE Argyll Ruane in 2018 as an NDT Apprentice, undertaking the Level 3 NDT Engineering Technician Apprenticeship through Skills Training UK (STUK), through which he gained Level 2 PCN qualifications in MPI, DPI and Ultrasonic testing of Forgings and Welds 3.1, 3.2, 3.8, 3.9.
During this time, Christian shadowed our Level 3 Consultants, trainers and spent periods of time at a number of organisations to gain a broad range of industry experience.
He also trained to become a tutor and now teaches MT, PT, UT (Forgings, welds, Ts, nozzles, nodes) and NDT Appreciation courses to students attending the training facilities in Sheffield, at our sister organisation in Fife, Scotland, as well as onsite at client facilities. Christian is also a trained invigilator in most NDT methods.
In 2023, Christian became the lead UT tutor and is responsible for the running of the UT floor at IMechE Argyll Ruane.
How did you first hear about the NDT industry?
“I have a brother who is also in NDT.”
What do you enjoy about working in NDT?
“I love teaching people, and the people in our industry always want to learn.”
