IMechE Yorkshire Chairman visits Sheffield’s premier engineering training facility

Chairman Alan Brattan views high-spec training facilities and meets students from a range of high calibre organisations.

This week, IMechE Engineering Training Solutions welcomed the Yorkshire chairman of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Chartered Engineer Alan Bratton to the Engineering Training Centre at Sheffield Business Park.

From his experience working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer for INEOS and BP, Alan has extensive experience in maintaining plant integrity within the petro-chemical industry.

On visiting the specialist training centre, Alan remarked on the quality of the facilities and equipment on offer to students.

“This is superb facility for engineers and technicians to train and study in the heart of Sheffield and Yorkshire’s advanced engineering district. It goes to show the Institution’s continued commitment to the development of engineers and the local region”.

Alan also had the opportunity to meet and present a number of students with their certificates on completion of their NDT Appreciation course. Engineers from organisations such as Rolls-Royce, the Atomic Weapons Establishment, Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and EDF were able to gain an overview of the various methods and applications of Non-Destructive Testing.

Since it’s formulation in 1985 as what would become Argyll-Ruane, Sheffield and South Yorkshire has been home to a world leading Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) training and certification organisation.
