Level III Consultant Kyle Duncan recently delivered a series of Hardness Testing and Positive Material Identification (PMI) training courses for Sonomatic Ltd. at their facilities in Grangemouth, Scotland.

Currently the client uses an internal ‘buddy’ training system, however, they were looking for a course from a reputable, independent training organisation to ensure all personnel were trained to the same high standard and formal origins of competency could be provided, enabling them to meet specific requirements from their clients and auditors.

Course content

  • Introduction to Hardness Testing
  • Measuring Hardness Testing
  • Material properties
  • An understanding of Heat treatment
  • Hardness Testing methodology: LEEB (Pre-test considerations, apparatus verification, test procedure, test considerations, indentation spacing, LEEB Impact Devices
  • Hardness Testing Methodology: Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) (Pre-test considerations, apparatus verification, test procedure, test considerations, indentation spacing, LEEB Impact Devices
  • Hardness conversions

Information and breakdown of course was excellent. Student, Sonomatic Ltd.
